At Active Brain, children don't start Mandarin by memorizing characters or repeating lists of words. Inspired by how children naturally acquire languages, the Mandarin Discovery Method follows a gentle, progressive journey designed by Dr Sheavon Lee.

I earned my PhD in Physical Chemistry through the European Erasmus Mundus programme at the University of Bordeaux (France) and TU Darmstadt (Germany).
Before creating Active Brain Bordeaux, I worked as a science teacher in Taiwan, where I discovered the joy of guiding children through curiosity, experiments and discovery.
With Active Brain, I combine science, languages and creativity to create a place where children can experiment, imagine, collaborate and grow with confidence.

What age are the science workshops for?+
Children aged 4 to 10. We split into Kindergarten (4–5) and Primary (6–10) groups so each child learns at the perfect level.
Are the programs bilingual?+
Holiday workshops and private science classes are mainly run in English, with simple French support when needed so children feel comfortable.
Is late care available?+
Yes — optional late care from 12 pm to 4:30 pm for children attending the workshops.
Where are you located?+
17 Cité Dutrey, 33300 Bordeaux — on the upper floor above cabinet Sgard-Lee, in a warm space designed for children.
What materials do you use?+
We carefully select eco-friendly, non-toxic and organic-when-possible ingredients. Safety and quality come first.
How do I enroll my child?+
Through our online registration form, via Instagram, or by email. A €50 deposit confirms holiday camp bookings; the Wednesday Club requires a €70 registration fee.
